This
year-round program provides instruction by established golf
professionals, monthly tournaments, collared shirts, hats, and a monthly
newsletter to keep our juniors and parents
informed
on upcoming events.
The Olomana Golf Links has dedicated every Saturday afternoon to
our juniors for course time.
Below are brief descriptions of our classes.
Introductory
Session:
This program gives juniors an overview of the game of golf. Juniors
will be exposed to the basic fundamentals, rules, and etiquette of
golf.
This program is
an eight (8) week course, which meets on Saturdays (11:30 – 12:30 p.m.)
or Sundays (10:00 – 11:00 a.m.) for one hour. Upon completion of this
program, juniors continue to Session I.
This program is a total of eight hours at the cost of $155.00 (includes
a Casey Nakama Jr. Golf collar-shirt).
Session I:
This program is for juniors with a little experience with the game.
Juniors will be exposed to procedures of playing in a 4-some, while
learning more rules and etiquette. Advancement to
Session II will be based upon the improvement of the junior golfer’s
skill level and a qualifying test. Repeating Session I is not a
detriment. Juniors will continue to work on their skills and
endurance without apprehensions.
This program is
an eight (8) week course, which meets on Saturdays (12:30 – 2:00 p.m.)
or Sundays (11:00 – 12:30 p.m.) for 1.5 hours.
The program is a
total of 12 hours at different cost intervals. This cost varies
depending on your entry to Session I.
The cost for new juniors to Session I is $185.00 (includes a Casey
Nakama Jr. Golf collar-shirt & golf cap); juniors who already have a
Casey Nakama Jr. Golf collar-shirt is $165.00 (includes a golf cap);
juniors who already have the required Casey Nakama Jr. Golf collar-shirt
& golf cap is $150.00.
* Session II:
This program is for those returning juniors who have previously
participated in the Casey Nakama Jr. Golf Development Program and have
passed the Session I qualifier. This session focuses on developing
their short game. The returning students know the routine and will
continue to work on their skills and endurance for tournament play and
continue to attain their “White Cap” status.
Juniors registering for Session II should already have the required
Casey Nakama Jr. Golf collar-shirt & golf cap. The cost for this
program is $165.00.
Session II is an
eight (8) week course, which meets on Fridays (4:30 – 6:00 p.m.) or
Saturdays (5 weeks of Instructional Time 3:00 – 4:30p.m. and 3 weeks of
Course Play 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.)
* White,
Black, & Red Caps:
This program is
for those returning juniors who have attained their “White Caps” through
qualifying in Session II and moving toward attaining their “Black Caps &
Red Caps”. This session focuses on developing their long game. This
means tee boxes will be brought further back from the greens depending
on their age division. Strategy, golf course management and club
selection will be emphasized.
This session is an eight (8) week program on Fridays (4:30 - 6:00
p.m.) at a cost of $165.00 or a nine (9) week program on Saturdays (3
weeks of Instructional Time 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. and 6 weeks of Course
Play check-in at 3:30 p.m.) at a cost of $190.00.
* Friday class is a combined Session
II & White, Black & Red Caps. Based on availability, there is more
course play on Friday than Saturday.
* Course Play is
when juniors may qualify for their White, Black, or Red Cap.
This system, developed by Casey
Nakama, is designed for juniors to have fun while learning the basic
fundamentals and etiquette that is essential to playing on the golf
course. This system is
being used by the Olomana Junior Golf Program, Waikele Junior Golf
Program, Pearl Country Club Junior Golf Program, and Oahu Junior Golf
Association Developmental Program (OJGA).
Tournaments:
Casey Nakama Junior Tour is a 9-hole (18-holes may be offered) junior
golf junior golf developmental tour, which is a series of tournaments
designed for players to experience tournament play
